Teen Apprenticeship Program

Kent County Theatre Guild Teen Apprenticeship Program

The Kent County Theatre Guild’s Teen Apprenticeship Program (TAP) is a free opportunity for teens aged 13 to 19 to get hands-on theater training as they create their own show for the Patchwork Playhouse stage.

TAP focuses on all aspects of theater, from stage performance and backstage management to light and sound magic. Whether your teen is a theater newcomer with little to no experience, or a seasoned performer with shows already under their belt, this program will teach them what they need to know about being onstage or working backstage!

Each six- to seven-week program takes teens through auditions, rehearsals and technical training to a final performance, putting teens in the driver’s seat as they learn to act, direct, costume, design, light, and stage-manage a production, under the guidance of experienced Guild directors and technical experts. They’ll even learn how to write and stage their own 10-minute shows that they’ll put before an audience at their final performances!

This comprehensive instruction is a great way for young thespians to prepare to eventually perform in or run our mainstage shows.
