Volunteering at the Guild

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization, from actors, directors, and crew who work directly with a show, to offstage volunteers who read and recommend plays, manage our teen program, publicize our theater, fundraise, or tend the bar and show patrons to their seats on performance nights. If you want to explore all the different ways you can volunteer, check out the volunteer committees on this page or click the button to check out our volunteer form, which has a complete list of all the ways you can help onstage, backstage, or behind the scenes. See a job you think you’d enjoy? Fill out the form and let us know!

Membership

Gina Shuck, Chair

The membership committee welcomes new dues-paying members of the Kent County Theatre Guild and maintains membership rolls.

If you are not already a Guild member, please consider becoming one! Membership in our organization brings with it many benefits, not the least of which is the option to attend our annual meeting and perhaps become a voting member! It will also, if qualified, allow you to serve as a director or assistant director of one of our mainstage productions.
An organization is only as good as its volunteer and membership base. Consider giving back to your community and supporting the arts in Delaware by becoming a member of the Kent County Theatre Guild today! Click to learn more about Kent County Theatre Guild memberships or to sign up:

Playreading

Steve Caporiccio, Chair

This is a book club with a difference — all the reading selections are plays that might be performed on our stage with your recommendation! Committee members research and read plays, discuss them at meetings, and put together an annual list of recommended shows. The list is sent out to approved Guild directors, who may request to direct one or more of the shows on the list.

Marketing

Katie Young, Chair

The marketing committee helps get the word out about the Kent County Theatre Guild, assisting with ads, social media, and the website, as well as organizing special events and fundraisers.

Grants

Shelby Bradford, Chair

As a 501(c)(3) organization, the Kent County Theatre Guild is eligible for funding from granting entities. The grants committee researches and applies for grant funding opportunities that align with the Guild’s mission of providing live theater to our local area.

Teen Apprenticeship Theatre

Melissa Brenner, Advisor

The Kent County Theatre Guild’s Teen Apprenticeship Program (TAP) is a free opportunity for teens aged 13 to 19 to get hands-on theater training as they create their own show for the Patchwork Playhouse stage.  Each six- to seven-week TAP session focuses on all aspects of theater, from stage performance and backstage management to light and sound magic.

Front of House

Kevin Smith, Chair

Ushers and bartenders are needed for all performances! Sell tickets, show patrons to their seats, or assist with soda, wine, beer, and mixed drink sales behind the bar. Ushers and bartenders may also see the show on the night they serve if seats are available.
